After five years of off and on development, four major refactorings, three GDCs, two competition prizes and one incredible amount of effort, Simpulls is finally ready for launch.

Simpulls will be launching on the iOS App Store THIS THURSDAY, November 5th!

Simpulls is our ode to some of our past favourite puzzle games: Magical Drop, Puyo Puyo and Puzzle Bobble. We wanted to bring something new to touch puzzle gaming, something not bejeweled inspired.

So ready your fingers for some fast paced Simpull matching action. Save Simpulls by matching together 3 or more of the same color. Grab and release Simpulls using simple swipe gestures. Discover the lost tribes of the Simpull warriors, mysterious mages and you might even encounter the rare freedom portals. Are you ready?

Simpulls Arcade at DigitalNationz

I spent today demoing off Simpulls Arcade at DigitalNationz. It is a two player (versus and coop) arcade version of Simpulls. It was quite fun to make and everyone seemed to enjoy playing it.

I don’t think I’ll do anything more with it, but it was very useful as a way to demo it without crowding everyone around a tiny touch device.

Wow, what an incredibly week it has been. Just a few days ago we found out we won the Best Gameplay award in the Unity Windows Phone 8 competition, and today we have more exciting news.

Simpulls has taken FIRST PLACE in the New Zealand Microsoft Unity competition.

Simpulls wins Best Gameplay!

Earlier this year we polished up a release of our upcoming game Simpulls and entered it in a couple of Unity competitions.

Just today we were amazed to find out that we have been awarded “Best Gameplay” in the Unity Windows Phone 8 competition!

We are absolutely stoked with this, it is always nice to hear that other people appreciate the work you have done.

There is still a lot of work to do, the version we entered in the competition is still very early, but we are looking forward to sharing Simpulls with the world soon!
